With the BioCollect tool, it is possible to easily manage research and biodiversity monitoring projects, communicate activities and results, make them accessible to the public, and store and share collected data in the long term.
What is BioCollect?
BioCollect is a data management and collection tool developed by the Atlas of Living Australia and now also available through the Biodiversity Atlas Austria (BDA). It supports project managers (from research or practice) in the collection and management of biodiversity data from monitoring and research projects, and enables them to communicate their projects and results.
The BioCollect tool offers various templates for data collection. Specific templates can also be created in consultation with the BDA team. Biodiversity data can be entered directly in the tool by different project collaborators or uploaded using a template. Within a project, multiple surveys can be created. This allows, for example, the setup and management of annual surveys as part of a research or monitoring project. In addition to presenting general project information, methods, guidelines, and results can also be stored. Blog posts make it possible to communicate current developments within the project. A detailed user guide for the BioCollect tool will be available soon.
The BioCollect tool is currently in the testing phase. If you are interested in managing a biodiversity project in the BDA and making collected data available, please contact us. We are happy to assist in making project results publicly accessible in the long term.
The implementation of the tool and the pilot project “BIOM-Garten” were funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry
